General Information

Two-year long preparatory courses for study in a Czech- and/or English-taught programmes at VŠE are designed for students who plan to study in a Czech- or English-taught programme at any of the six faculties of VŠE. The concept and content of these preparatory courses is designed with entrance exam requirements and further study (specifically at VŠE) in mind, for Slavic and non-Slavic students as well.

In addition to language classes, students also receive training in those subjects, that are required to pass within the entrance exams, which not only increases success during the entrance examinations, but also greatly facilitates orientation during the first year of study at VŠE. During the preparatory course, students will also be working with sample tests of the entrance exams to VŠE . Lessons are conducted by experienced teachers from VŠE, who speak either Russian, or English.

If interested in this type of a preparatory course, English language knowledge is required at an A2 level at least. At the time of enrollment into the course, student should have a completed high-school education .

First year of study

Academic Year (18.09.2017 – 27.05.2018): 33 weeks of classes, total 1155 hours of classes

Programme: Business English, Introduction to General Economics, Czech Republic facts, conversation, grammar, phonetics

Winter Semester 18.9. – 17.12. 2017 – 30 hours of Czech + 5 hours of English per week

At the end of the winter semester, there is an interim (semestral) exam.

Summer Semester 8.1. – 27.5. 2018 – 30 hours of Czech + 5 hours of English per week

First year of study is completed by an entrance exam into the second year of study.

Price of the first year of study: 6500 EUR

Registration fee: 250 EUR

Total Cost: 6750 EUR

The price of the first year of the course covers costs related to the course, including interim and final tests, and basic study materials. Free of charge is: transfer from the airport, help of an English-speaking coordinator throughout the whole time of the course, help with an evaluation and nostrification of a high-school / university education, registration with the police upon arrival etc. Registration fee in the amount of 250 EUR is not part of the course fee and is non-refundable. Registration fee covers costs related to mailing the documents, and administrative procedures associated with enrollment of a student into a course.

Second year of study

Academic Year (18.09.2018 – 27.05.2019):

There are two options for the second year of study:

Czech-English preparatory course for study at VŠE

Winter Semester – 10 hours of Czech + 20 hours of English (some of the hours of English language classes are classes from a regular university study at VŠE)
Summer Semester – 10 hours of Czech + 20 hours of English (some of the hours of English language classes are classes from a regular university study at VŠE)
Programme: Business English, Introduction to General Economics, Czech Republic facts, conversation
At the end of the course, student receives a certificate confirming its completion. Completion of this option of the course may allow sucessful students to continue in an English-taught bachelor’s (eg. Bachelor of International Business) or master’s (eg. International and Diplomatic Studies) study programme of VŠE, or continue in a free-of-charge Czech-taught study programme (some subjects completed during the course’s study may be recognized into the further study).

Czech  preparatory course for study at VŠE

Winter Semester (18.9. – 17.12.2017) – 25 hours of Czech language per week (including three hours on facts of the Czech Republic)
Summer Semester (8.1. – 27.5. 2018) – 20 hours per week (including 2 hours of introduction to General Economics and 3 hours of introduction to Social Science) + 5 hours of supplementary courses
Programme: Programme of this option of the second year of the course study corresponds to a One-year long preparatory course for study at VŠE.

Cost of this option of the second year of study is equal to a cost of the One-year long preparatory course for study at VŠE.
